Hi there,

My name is Ross Smith, but my close friends call me Rusty.

I’m a pretty simple guy with a simple life. I’ve been running my own custom cabinetry business for the better part of my adult life and take great pride in my work. To see the look on a customer face when the picture on the paper has come to sit in their home is what it’s all about for me.

I married my high school sweetheart and we have three wonderful children together. She is still my best friend. We are all very close and the outdoors has always been a huge part of my family activities. My love for sports has guided me to coaching a high school baseball team as well. Teaching the boys about the sport and the team work required to play the game has been very rewarding over the years. When the day is done and I actually take the time to relax we love to spend it up north at our cottage on Lake Huron. Up there nothing else matters but family, friends, fishing and fun.

When I’m not working, coaching, or supporting my kids at their sporting events I’m either in the woods or in the water. The fact that I can walk out my back door to be in the woods definitely helps. Several of the nicer deer and turkey that I have taken over the years have been out behind the house. I was the other participant in the “What if” story in the Sanctuary Outdoors Blog, and that hunt really impacted the way we hunt whitetails now. I still can’t believe how that all worked out. Since that day we try to have a camera with us at all times and it is awesome to playback the stories to people instead of just telling them.

We hunt really hard so I’m sure we’ll have plenty of entertaining video for 2012. Stay tuned and enjoy.
