Hey there everyone!
I never thought in a million years that I would be writing a profile for a hunting & fishing website. I’m a girly girl! I want to write about fashion, cloths, shoes, make up, and SHOPPING!!! That’s what I thought until a couple years ago when I met my best friend and partner Jeff. He loves the outdoors and actually wanted me to be a part of it with him. He introduced me to bow hunting and fishing and I love them both. Even though Jeff has trained me to be a scent control freak I do occasionally wear makeup (Shhhhhhh……don’t tell him). I grew up in Michigan and shopped at Sacs Fifth Avenue. Now I shop at Cabell’s and Bass Pro Shops. I have a brother who is also a Sanctuary Outdoor pro staff member and an 11 years old son who is already showing an interest in hunting.
I purchased my first bow, a Matthews DXT, and we started practicing every evening. I thought I had it down until I actually had a live animal standing in front of me. Hmmm, a little bit different then the foam block target. Needless to say I had several opportunities and nothing to show for it. 2010 was going to be different! We got a 3-D target and whenever we had a free minute I was flinging arrows. I was bound and determined to make it happen this year. On our first hunt of 2010, I shot two does the same night. I can’t tell you how exhilarating that was. Jeff was running the camera and was actually shaking more than me. A few weeks later we went to Illinois and I harvested my first buck. An 11 pointer that scored 125”. The excitement of seeing a buck this big and actually making the shot and killing it was unbelievable. My heart still races every time I think about it. I have it mounted in the basement right next to Jeff’s first bow kill. A 3” spike! Hee hee hee……
2011 wasn’t so easy. I saw a lot of deer and several shooter bucks that I really wanted to take but something altered their route just outside of bow range every time. Deer less/buck less for 2011!
Although I love to bow hunt, my first passion is ice fishing. I really look forward to our trips to Lake Simcoe and catching jumbo perch. We don’t always catch our limit but we always have a blast! And yes I do have teeth.
We love the four seasons and truly enjoy the outdoors. Hopefully, 2012 will be a successful one so stayed tuned in and find out!
Thanks for visiting Sanctuary Outdoors!
